Our Projects
MEI provided financial and human capital to create a new company, Mountain Food Products (MFP), a for-profit, mission-oriented food producer, based in Khorog, Tajikistan. MFP sources locally-grown crops to produce high-quality premium potato chips, frozen french fries, and other food products, which are sold through grocery stores, restaurants, hotels, and schools across the region.
Property & Plant
Acquired .74 hectares of land outskirts of Khorog along the Panj River
Constructed new buildings to house state-of-the-art food production facility, water treatment plant, offices, kitchen, laundry, 6 residences
A section of land reserved for greenhouse and conventional farming to support MFP’s work in potato farming empowering the supply chain.
Water Treatment System
MFP uses industrial pumps mounted on pontoons to extract water from the Panj River
MFP’s 7-stage water filtration system produces 100 gallons per minute of fresh, clean, and great-tasting drinking water that exceeds the standards of the World Health Organization
Water is used in production and to heat and cool the facility with plans to offer to others
Food Production Factory
MFP-Khorog has modern machinery and equipment to clean, sort, slice, fry, flavor and package high-quality potato chips and a variety of other food products.
40 tonne vacuum fryer is healthier way to produce snack foods with less oil
At capacity, MFP-Khorog can process 40 tons of potatoes per month and produce 160K units of finished goods available in 30g, 50g, 80g and 130g bags
